About Us

Regina Krahl and Michael Karolus, Paradou Art

It was as students of Sinology at Munich University that the two of us met, decades ago, and that we discovered how much we had in common. A deep love of France is one of the many strands that link us. We are both German, have lived and worked mainly in Munich and London, but France is where we both feel at home. In order to make that dream come closer to reality, Regina decided that she needed two pieds-a-terre there, one in Paris, Rive Gauche, and one in Uzès, the latter not too far from her favourite restaurant, Le Bistrot du Paradou, in the village of that name in Provence.

We are both Aries, we share the same tall aesthetic standards, exacting demands on quality and, luckily, have very similar tastes. We cannot get excited by Koons and Hirst; we love the unpretentious medium of works on paper, in which Morandi excelled; we adore the classic, yet slightly eccentric sculptures by Mitoraj. ‘Joy and beauty’, as Jeanne-Claude postulated for art, are by no means hackneyed terms for us, but are central to our approach. We would like to inspire you with our enthusiasm for the artists we present.
